SEEK WEEK
AUGUST
23-29, 2026
Church family,
Every year, we set aside this week to do something simple but easy to forget in the rush of everyday life: to seek God. Not just to ask Him for things, not just to check a box, but to actually pursue Him — to slow down long enough to remember that He is near, that He sees us, and that He is still moving.
My hope for you this week is simple. I hope you’d encounter God in a way that’s honest — not performed, not polished, just real. I hope you’d let Him search the parts of your heart you don’t usually hand over. And I hope that by the end of this week, you’d walk away not just having done something spiritual, but having actually met with God.
My hope for our church is that even though each of us will be praying these words on our own — in our cars, at our kitchen tables, before bed, in the quiet moments of an ordinary day — we would somehow feel more connected, not less. That we’d sense we’re part of something bigger than our own private faith. Because we are. This week, this whole church family is seeking God together, even when we’re apart.
So here’s what I’m asking: pick a time each day this week — same time, if you can — and pray through that day’s focus. Don’t rush it. Let it be honest. And trust that God is doing something in you that He’s doing in the person sitting three rows over, too.
You’re praying alone. But you’re not praying alone.
— Pastor Jason Laird
a prayer for us as we begin
“Lord, as we begin this week, I ask You to meet every person in our church family right where they are. Whether they come to You full of faith or full of doubt, whether they’re eager or exhausted — meet them. Do something in each of us that we couldn’t manufacture on our own. Unite our hearts even as we pray apart, and let this be a week where we truly seek You and find You near. Amen.”
HOW TO GET THE MOST
OUT OF SEEK WEEK
SUNDAY
SEEKING GOD'S PRESENCE
“Lord, I come seeking You above everything else. Quiet the noise in my heart and draw me close. Strip away distraction, busyness, and everything that competes for my attention. I want more of You this week — not just what You give, but who You are. Meet me here, Lord, and let me know Your nearness.”
MONDAY
SEEKING REPENTANCE
“Father, search me and know my heart. Show me anything that has pulled me away from You — pride, apathy, hidden sin, or quiet compromise. Give me courage to name it honestly and turn back to You. Thank You that Your mercy meets me before I even finish asking, and that grace, not shame, leads me home.”
TUESDAY
SEEKING UNITY IN OUR CHURCH FAMILY
“Lord, knit my heart together with my church family. Forgive me for any division, comparison, gossip, or distance I’ve allowed between myself and others. Break down whatever keeps me guarded or apart. Make me someone known by love, so that the world sees You when they see us together.”
WEDNESDAY
SEEKING FOR MY HOME
“God, come into my home this week. Heal what is broken between me and any individual in my family (my spouse, my parents, my children.) Strengthen what is weary, and restore what feels distant or strained. Fill my household with Your peace, and let my home be a place where You are welcome — not just on Sundays, but every day.”
THURSDAY
SEEKING FOR MY NEIGHBORS AND CITY
“Lord, open my eyes to the people You’ve placed around me — my neighbors, coworkers, and friends who don’t yet know You. Give me love that moves me to action, and courage to speak when You give the opportunity. Use me to be Your hands and voice this week, right where I live.”
FRIDAY
SEEKING FOR THE HURTING AND BROKEN
“God, I lift up everyone I know who is carrying pain, sickness, grief, or sorrow — including, maybe, myself. Some of us are hiding it well; some of us can barely hold on. You are El Roi, the God who sees. See me, hold me, and bring healing where it’s needed most — in my body, my mind, and my heart.”
SATURDAY
SEEKING A MOVE OF GOD — REVIVAL
“Lord, do something new in me. Break every barrier — fear, comfort, control — to what You want to do in my life, in this church, and in this city. Wake me up from spiritual sleepwalking, and stir a hunger in me that won’t settle for less than You. I surrender myself fully. Have Your way, Lord.”
